International Women's Day feature
For our International Women's Day feature, we caught up with Jacqueline Saturn, General Manager of Caroline Distribution and Harvest Records. Having spent 25 years in the music industry, Jacqueline has seen a fair amount of turmoil in the business, and how the role of women executives has evolved. Jacqueline's track record of mentoring countless female artists and executives has earned her a reputation as one of the most respected executives in the music business.

How did you get your start in your career?
I was always passionate about Music and after graduating from Syracuse University, I moved directly to NYC and got my first job at SAVAGE Records answering phones. It was my foot in the door and I loved every minute of it. There is nothing more important than people hearing a friendly voice on the phone or seeing a smile when walking in in the morning. I worked that job as if I was already head of the company. I got to meet the most amazing people and I sometimes think back to those days, I loved that job and know that I really gave 100 percent.
What motivates you to get out of bed on a Monday morning?
Monday mornings excite me.
I am up at 4:50 am ready to take on my Monday. On Sunday nights, I plan an exact workout so I have something to look forward to, and then make a list of the tasks I need to accomplish to really rock my Monday morning.
If you could choose one super power, what would it be?
I already have so many super powers. Okay, just one, it would be an ability to fly so I never had to be stuck in traffic!
What’s the best and worst decision that you made in your career? The best decision I ever made in my career was to move my family across the country to Los Angeles to accept the job of becoming General Manager of Harvest Records/CMG. I have never looked back. The worst decision? Honestly, I don’t feel I have made a “worst” decision in my career. Every decision I made allowed me to learn and grow.
What women inspire you?
That’s a tough one because I am inspired by so many women in my life. My mom was the ultimate working woman at a time in the south (I grew up in Nashville ) when not one of my friends moms worked. She was building a business and I recognize now how hard it was for her to juggle her job and ambitions along with raising my sisters and me. In my career now, I work with incredibly powerful women who inspire me every day at the Capitol Music Group, especially my COO Michelle Jubelirer. She is completely supportive of my career but also my life and we have a great working relationship as well as a friendship.
